Landscape Design

Start by looking at what you want to achieve. Pick a few focal points you want to draw attention to.  Then we can decide your course of action.  This is a very exciting part of the whole process.  You can let your creative juices flow as you and I collaborate on a design for your yard.  Many clients have a very specific idea of what they want to achieve.  Others have no idea and ask us to design it for them.  Either way, this is where you visualize your dream lighting coming together.

Outdoor Lighting Types

When considering Landscape Outdoor Lighting Fort Worth there are many options.  There is up-lighting – for example at the base of a tree – where light shines up the trunk and into the branches. Down-lighting is hung from trees or structures and cast light to the ground. Path lighting uses taller fixtures to illuminate a walking path or garden area. You can also shine a spot fixture on an object.  We can design a system that is both practical and efficient, and which will make a dramatic effect to you home at light.  One of our favorite design suggestion is to also include the up-lighting of the home itself – It is truly stunning at night.

There are so many options for outdoor lighting in Fort Worth, we are glad to meet with you to assist in making sure you will be completely satisfied with the design and results of your landscape lighting design.  If you have a specific idea of where you would like the lights, I recommend sketching it on a sheet of paper.  We will be scetching your entire lawn and house for our purposes, and it help to make sure everyone is on the page.

Power Source for Landscape Lighting

After we have mapped out the landscape design system, we will find a power source for the transformer. The power source will be a ground-fault circuit, interrupter-protected outlet.  It is best to install the transformer near the outlet.  It can be plugged directly into the GFCI outlet.  If you don’t have a GFCI outlet in a convenient location, we can install one for you.

We will calculate the right wattage size transformer for your installation, and the proper location of the transformer for your specific situation.  Transformers vary, so using a professional to make the calculations are imperative to make sure there is no voltage drop at the end of the electrical run.  Once the transformer is installed next to the home, it is time to roll out the electrical cable to the areas you wish to illuminate.

We will initially lay the cable on the ground and run it to location of each of the fixtures you have decided to use in your installation.  We will then assemble the light fixtures and properly attach them to the cable.  The fixtures will have two small wires that attach to a cable connector. The cable connector makes contact with the cable and pierces it to contact the copper strands inside.

The Light Fixture Installation

We will dig a small line trench, usually with a flat headed shovel, 6-8 inches in the ground,  We push the head of the shovel in the ground, and wiggle it back and forth to make a small 2″ or so gap.  We lay the cable in the small trench, pushing it to the bottom with a wooden dowel.  Once the connections are all properly secure and tested, we will close up the trench and bury the cable.

We secure all the connections at the transformer, install any other control devices you may want, such as timers and/or light sensors.  When all of the fixtures are installed, we will the transformer into the outlet and turn it on. When dark, we will return and make any adjustments that may be necessary.  And that’s it!  Only takes a day or two and you have a beautiful illuminated lawn and home.
