Professional Handyman Serving Ryan Place
Fort Worth is proud to serve the historic Ryan Place neighborhood of Fort Worth, TX. Ryan Place is the vision of developer John C. Ryan that started out in 1911. The neighborhood is rich in history, and this is represented in its grandeur and the apparent charm associated with the environment. Ryan Place is located south of Downtown Fort Worth, and it has proximity to business areas, the medical district, restaurants and other features that make a living in it appealing.
The history of Ryan Place date back to 1911, when John Ryan envisioned developing a neighborhood of distinction out of a vast grassland. He set out to build a community that will rival Summit and Pennsylvania Avenues and Victoria mansions. Ryan together with his wife Elizabeth Willing Ryan put up quality controls to ensure the neighborhood remains what they envisioned as elite and exclusive place. The neighborhood has impressive gates at the east and west sides of the Elizabeth Blvd. also at the north end of the 6th avenue and all these gates give a special impression as you approach the neighborhood from any of the gates.
The oil boom experienced around this time gave this neighborhood a significant boost as witnessed in rapid development of homes, especially around Elizabeth Blvd. The peak of this growth was around 1926, and the neighborhood has varieties of homes such as Mediterranean stucco and Georgian brick. Prominent families in Fort Worth lived there, and houses had the best of facilities and features that were available at that time such as Palladian windows, imported marble columns, balustrade verandahs, underground ballrooms among many.
The “Great Depression” changed the tide with the once prosperous Ryan Place. Houses where abounded and constructions were halted due to the prevalent economic reality. Families also moved in large droves to new areas, and the neighborhood witnessed a sharp drop in property values.
The resident of Ryan Place resisted the planned widening of the 5th and 6th Avenue to become one-way thoroughfares. The residents established Ryan Place Improvement Association to fight the plan in 1969. The resident confronted and won thereby stopping the intrusion of Ryan Place boundary which the proposed widening would have caused.
The residents also initiated the Ryan Place Candlelight Tour which is a fundraising project for the replacement of the gates and this was achieved in 1991. The Tour continued after that to raise money for other projects such as restoration of Ryan Place historic street lights.
Today, Elizabeth Blvd. is recognized as a National Historic Place, making it the first to be recognized in Tarrant County. Another spectacular thing about Ryan Place is the fact that it is the oldest neighborhood that is still intact today in Fort Worth.
Today, Ryan Place features full tree-lined streets with sidewalks and ornamental streetlights as seen in many of its roads. Elaborate homes that are larger in size are majorly found on Elizabeth Blvd. The homes architectural styles vary from Mediterranean style to Praire style, and most homes are single-story buildings.
The elementary school in Ryan Place includes E. M. Daggett Montessori School and has E. M. Daggett as Middle school. High School present is R. L. Paschal.
